Specialised Tours

I began my AUSTRALIA - SOUTH AFRICA CROSS PROMOTION enterprises in 1994 with the aim of promoting Australia in South Africa and South Africa in Australia.
Diana Lyon I have done this through the distribution of Australian made documentary films to television and non-
theatrical markets in South Africa and through organising and escorting personalised tours for Australian groups to South Africa.
While the two enterprises are quite different, they require similar skills of marketing, sales and coordination - all of which I acquired in my 30-year media and communications career which began in South Africa.

In addition, my sound knowledge of the Southern African region, my reputable track record there and my many valuable contacts, have helped me to establish what has become a unique, successful and fulfilling enterprise.
Also, and most importantly, my objective to precipitate a more informed view between South Africans and Australians of each other's country is, in some small way, being achieved through these endeavours. Of that I am especially proud.
While the tours to South Africa, which have also included visits to Zimbabwe and Botswana, take place only every two years, my work on film distribution continues all year round. You will find links below with more detailed information on each of these enterprises.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Below you will find brief introductions & direct links to my ZOOM IN ON OZ documentary film distribution site and to my SPECIALISED TOURS site.

Zoom in on Oz

Documentary Film Distribution
At present, my ZOOM IN ON OZ catalogue contains over fifty quality titles representing some of Australia's finest documentary filmmakers. I am, however, constantly seeking new titles particularly singles or series which document the people and places of Australia and the Asia Pacific as well as children's programs and training videos on personal development and business skills.
As I regularly travel to South Africa to meet with individual broadcasters and distributors, attend film and television markets and, as I write for South Africa's only monthly industry news magazine, Screen Africa, I am

well placed to offer a specialised distribution service in what is an exciting emerging territory.
Should you not already have representation in Southern Africa, I invite you to send me preview material for assessment. If the material is suitable, exclusive distribution rights will be sought from you for the territory of Southern Africa for one or all of the following markets; broadcast TV, cable and satellite TV, non-theatrical learning institutions, airline entertainment and retail sell-through.
Link to the ZOOM IN ON OZ website where you can see the catalogue of titles, news columns, industry links and contact details.

Glorious Garden Tours

Glorious Garden Tour
Together with horticulturist, David Young, I have coordinated and escorted two successful month-long tours to South Africa and Zimbabwe in 1996 and 1998.
While these tours have had a focus on private and botanical gardens, they have by no means excluded the many other glorious sights and scenes South Africa has to offer.
We have also included visits to Kruger National Park, Kagga Kamma Bushmen Reserve, vineyards, historic homes and monuments, Table Mountain, Sun City Resort, The Garden Route, wildflower areas and more.
In addition, we travelled to Victoria Falls and game parks in Zimbabwe and Botswana.

We present the tours in a very personal way with numbers strictly limited.
Out tour operator, who is based in Cape Town, handles all our land arrangements in a meticulous way and provides the group with a professional English-speaking tour manager.
Tour bookings in Australia are handled by a fully licensed travel agent, Active Travel in Canberra and we use South Africa's international airline, South African Airways, for all our flights.
If your travel appetitie is sufficiently whetted, click here to take a look at the photo albums and itineraries of the past tours. Should you want to know more about our future tours, contact Diana or Active Travel.
